About Vocal Studies
Looking for exposure and experience in the vocal studies field? By studying voice at CWU you will receive directed, intensive training for careers in teaching, performance, and research.
With numerous performance opportunities in solo, chamber, opera, and large choral ensemble settings, you will have the opportunity to learn by doing as you participate in private lessons, studio classes, and recitals. You will benefit from course material spanning theory and history to highly specialized courses in literature and pedagogy.

There are many ensembles to join as well as numerous student clubs, such as:
- Student Chapter National Association of Teachers of Singing (SNATS)
- American Choral Directors Association (ACDA)
- Jazz Educators Network (JEN)
- National Association for Music Education (NAfME)

Voice Jury Procedure
When completing the online jury form:
- The form will not be submitted electronically, this is just for printing ease and increased legibility.
- Fill out the first page of the form completely.
- Though most browsers will allow you to type in and print, you may need to open the form in Acrobat to get this functionality.
- You will need to print three copies for the voice faculty.
- We prefer double sided prints, but you may staple the two pages together.
- Unless you have a duplex printer, to print double sided you will need to print one side at a time and manually re-insert your pages for side two.
- Bring all three copies to your jury.

Degrees Offered
We serve upward from 60 students per quarter with private studio voice lessons to meet the requirements for the degree programs below as well as all other programs, where voice is the major instrument or voice study is recommended as a secondary instrument. We also serve the Music Minor when enrollment numbers permit.
