Professional Pilot Application

Begin your aviation journey at Central Washington University by applying to our major

In order for your application to be considered, you must have already been accepted at CWU and complete the Professional Pilot Application. Transcripts will automatically be sent to us directly from Admissions. If you have questions please contact the Aviation Department for assistance.

In the application there will be an essay that is required to be written and submitted. Last year we had over 200 applicants apply and only had 65 slots available. This is your chance to stand out amongst other candidates and let us know why you should be chosen for the program. Prompt questions will be in the application.

Applications will open mid October, the Friday before Wildcat Preview Day each year, and will close on December 15th.

NOTE: There is no submission deadline for FAFSA/WASFA. If you are applying for a Professional Pilot degree and plan to self-pay for flight training costs, please contact the department for more information.

Before beginning the professional pilot application, please ensure that you have read the flight training overview information.

Note that the application is complete only when the following requirements are met:

  1. Applicant has been accepted to CWU. Must have ID number and CWU email.
  2. The online Aviation application is completed and submitted.

The original FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate will be required prior to beginning flight training.
