Highlights
Our History
In 1977, CWU hosted the Washington State Conference on the Status of Women, with more than 4,000 people attending to discuss the issues of women's rights. Prominent women leaders on campus called for changes to be made to reflect women's place in academics, headed by the Women's Studies Committee. After many decades, we officially became the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, offering degrees and a new more comprehensive focus on sexuality and gender.
Showing Up and Speaking Out
The Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department hosts many events every year connecting people with the issues of today. From teach-ins to inclusive conversations, you will have the chance to learn and speak up about what matters to you in a safe, supportive environment.
